ALITA 189 Unsaturated Polyester Resin for FRP Shipbuilding and Cooling Towers

Principal Properties & Application:

ALITA 189 is a kind of unsaturated polyester resin which has low viscosity, water resistance, great chemical resistance and higher breaking elongation. It is suitable for manufacturing FRP ship, cooling tower and other products by hand lay-up method. ALITA 189 has been approved by CCS forboat building.

Instruction and attention:

  1. Because ALITA 189 is not promoted, accelerator and hardener should be added in the resin before used. Just like other polymer resins, its gel time and curing degree are influenced by both of the temperature and the concentration of accelerator and hardener.
  2. The dose of accelerator is suggested to be controlled between 1.0% and 4.0%, however the hardener is 1.0% and 2.0%. If the dose of hardener is out of the range, it will result in a lower curing degree compared to the respect. When a different gel time is needed, please adjust the dose of agent according to the temperature and TDS.

Handling and Storage:

This resin contains ingredients which could be harmful if mishandled. Contact with skin and eyes should be avoided and necessary protective equipment and clothing should be worn.
Drums - It is highly recommended that all material is stored at stable temperatures below 25°C (77°F). Avoid exposure to heat sources such as direct sunlight or steam pipes. To avoid contamination of product with water, do not store outdoors. Keep sealed to prevent moisture pick-up and monomer loss. Rotate stock.
